Sweet potato harvest and packing, Bundaberg QLD

Farmgate Backpackers is looking for 100 workers for sweet potato harvest and packing in the Bundaberg rural area. This is seasonal work available for up to 9 months.

What you will do:

• Harvest sweet potatoes to quality standards
• Pack potatoes for market distribution
• Keep packing and harvesting areas clean and hygienic
• General crop maintenance and farm duties as needed

Work details:

• Typical hours are 6am to 6pm, with standard shifts of 7.6 hours per day
• Work may be rostered across a 7-day cycle depending on crop needs
• Minimum 30 hours per week where available, with extra hours often available during peak periods
• Work is subject to weather, crop availability and market demand

Pay:

• Level 1: $32.18 per hour
• Level 2: $33.05 per hour after three months’ experience
• Superannuation paid at the statutory rate
• Pay and conditions follow the Horticulture Award 2020, including penalty rates

What we need:

• No previous experience required – full training provided
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Ability to do physically demanding work outdoors
• Ability to work in hot and varying weather
• High level of physical fitness
• Commitment to a 7 to 9 month employment period
• You must arrange your own transport and accommodation
