About grain harvest jobs
Grain harvest jobs across Australia are machinery work, not hand-picking, and run hard through summer. The broadacre regions are the WA wheatbelt, western NSW, southern QLD and the Mallee.
When and where
Harvest runs roughly October to January, starting in the north and moving south. The big broadacre regions are the WA wheatbelt, western New South Wales, southern Queensland and the Victorian Mallee.
The work
Roles include header (combine) operators, chaser-bin and truck drivers, and silo and grain-handling work. Operating roles usually want some machinery experience, but farms also take general hands and train them. Pay is typically hourly, sometimes with bonuses for a big season.
Most regional farm work counts toward your 88 days. Check the rules in our 88 days guide.
