When and where

Harvest runs roughly October to January, starting in the north and moving south. The big broadacre regions are the WA wheatbelt, western New South Wales, southern Queensland and the Victorian Mallee.

The work

Roles include header (combine) operators, chaser-bin and truck drivers, and silo and grain-handling work. Operating roles usually want some machinery experience, but farms also take general hands and train them. Pay is typically hourly, sometimes with bonuses for a big season.
