Ironbrij is looking for an Agricultural Chemist for a permanent position in Hindmarsh.

About the role:

You will provide technical support to the laboratory and ensure quality controls are maintained. Your work will include investigating non-conformances, answering client queries, and developing new methods.

Your responsibilities:

• Maintain quality management systems in line with AS ISO/IEC 17025 standards
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and WH&S practices
• Manage quality output and accuracy of laboratory data
• Validate methods and measure uncertainty
• Monitor and report performance against key measures
• Oversee soil and plant check samples for ASPAC proficiency testing
• Maintain instrument calibrations and record keeping for NATA
• Investigate non-conformances and implement improvements
• Develop new methods and improve existing ones
• Respond to customer complaints and queries
• Lead and mentor laboratory team members
• Monitor team performance and participate in recruitment

What we need:

• Bachelor of Science or relevant tertiary technical education
• At least 2 years’ experience in a commercial agricultural laboratory
• Proven ability to build and lead a team
• In-depth knowledge of soil, plant, water and agricultural product analysis
• In-depth knowledge of quality management, NATA and their application
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Good computing skills including Microsoft Office
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Good interpersonal skills
