LT Fresh Produce Pty Ltd, trading as Midwest Vegetables, is a large-scale vegetable farming business in the Geraldton region of Western Australia. They grow cucumbers, Shanghai cabbage, ginger and garlic for wholesale markets using modern greenhouse and farm production systems.

The role

You will design and plan irrigation and water distribution systems for the business’s greenhouse and farm areas. This is a full-time position, 38 hours per week.

Your responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments of production areas, considering water sources, soil conditions, crop requirements and existing infrastructure
• Design efficient irrigation and fertigation systems for greenhouse and farm production
• Prepare detailed irrigation layouts, technical drawings and specifications
• Undertake hydraulic calculations for water flow, pressure, pipe sizing and system capacity
• Select and specify irrigation equipment including pumps, pipelines, valves, filtration systems and controllers
• Calculate water requirements and develop irrigation schedules for different crop types
• Assess existing infrastructure and design modifications and upgrades
• Inspect completed installations against approved designs
• Maintain accurate records and provide technical guidance to management

What you need

A qualification in irrigation, agriculture, agricultural technology or a related technical field, or at least three years of relevant industry experience. You should have demonstrated experience in designing irrigation systems for commercial agricultural or horticultural production, conducting site assessments, preparing technical drawings using CAD or similar software, and knowledge of hydraulic principles and calculations.

Salary is $95,000 plus superannuation.
