Animal husbandry technician, Oakwood NSW

Global Skilled Employment Services is recruiting an Animal Husbandry Technician for a dairy farm in Oakwood, NSW. This is a full-time permanent position.

Main duties:

• Artificially inseminate livestock for breeding
• Advise on breeding selection and techniques
• Vaccinate animals and monitor their health and welfare
• Maintain records of insemination history
• Clean and sterilise all equipment
• Handle animals humanely and follow animal welfare codes
• Store semen and handle liquid nitrogen safely
• Inspect animals for disease, parasites and infections
• Organise animal movement for breeding
• Report to the operations manager on breeding activity
• Maintain farm facilities and equipment
• Work as part of a team and attend meetings

Requirements:

• Diploma in Agriculture or higher
• At least 3 years recent relevant work experience
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal
• Advanced knowledge of animal husbandry, animal welfare, dairy production and OH&S
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Computer skills are an advantage
