About this job

M & C F Silverstein is looking for 16 orchard hands to work in the Goulburn Valley region. The work runs from November 2026 to June or August 2027.

What you will do:

  • Pruning, thinning and picking apples, pears and plums
  • Driving a small tractor
  • Moving fruit bins
  • Setting up hail netting
  • Other orchard hand duties under supervision

Hours and conditions:

  • Minimum 30 hours per week, some weekend work
  • Summer: 7am to 4pm
  • Winter: 8am to 5pm
  • Half hour lunch break
  • No work on rainy days or in excessive heat

What you need:

  • Be fit and healthy – picking is demanding work
  • Be strong enough to carry a 20kg picking bag and climb ladders
  • Be an Australian citizen able to work legally

Weather: Summer temperatures reach 30-40 degrees. Winter mornings can be minus 2 degrees, warming to around 11 degrees during the day.

Pay is at Horticulture Award Rate 2020 (MA000028) or piece rates based on the number of bins picked.
