Horsford Farming Group is hiring 10 banana farm workers for their farm in the Innisfail region of North Queensland. These are permanent full-time positions.
The work
You will work 38 hours per week on average, rostered over 5 to 6 days including weekends as needed. The work is physically demanding in tropical conditions.
Field duties include harvesting banana bunches, de-leafing, stringing and de-suckering plants, planting and maintaining crops, and irrigation work. You may also do packing shed duties such as hanging bunches, de-handing, grading, sorting and packing bananas, and stacking cartons.
Pay and conditions
You will be paid at the Horticulture Award 2020 rates for your classification, plus overtime, penalty rates, allowances and superannuation. You start at Level 1 and progress to Level 2 after three months if your work is satisfactory.
What we need
You must be physically fit, reliable and able to work in hot, humid weather and all conditions. You need to be a good team member, follow safety rules, and treat everyone with respect. Previous banana or horticulture experience is helpful but not essential, as training will be provided. A driver’s licence is helpful but not required. You do not need your own transport.
You will need to pass a police check and drug and alcohol testing before you start.
