Farm Stay Manager and All-Rounder

A small off-grid accommodation business on 5 acres at Batlow in the Snowy Valleys is looking for a fit, self-sufficient all-rounder to finish the build and then help run the place. The business was destroyed in the 2020 bushfires and is in the last stage of its rebuild, so you would be finishing the job off and then managing it. Start date is mid-October 2026.

The deal:

• One 88-day position available, so it counts towards your visa
• Accommodation provided in an off-grid timber cabin at 875m, surrounded by bush and wildlife, close to town and shops
• Registered business with an ABN, so you get payslips, reports and tax deducted properly
• Commission and bonuses paid on bookings and 5-star ratings
• Low-cost accommodation can be arranged before the start date so you can settle in
• If you are a couple, there are plenty of local farms nearby looking for a second 88-day placement

The work is varied. Across the season you would handle:

• Minor tree work, hedging and clearing fence lines, working alongside a professional arborist on the bigger jobs
• Plumbing and gas to finish the shower facilities, plus tank hoses and taps for irrigation
• Installing the inverter and batteries for the existing off-grid solar system
• Erecting around 100m of fencing and an entry gate
• Carpentry repairs to the timber and steel balcony and balustrade, and floor work in the shed
• Minor exterior painting
• Cleaning and turning over two small cabins, plus laundry runs on your weekly shop
• Meeting guests, managing the online booking system and handling feedback
• Off-season maintenance on a small truffiere, mowing and whipper snipping
• Feral animal control and checking security cameras
• Collecting supplies on order

Materials and equipment are supplied for all of it.

What they want:

• Someone practical who can work on their own and think for themselves
• A current driver’s licence. This one is not negotiable, you will be collecting supplies
• A genuine love of nature. Part of the job is taking guests on nature walks and spotlighting nights, talking about the endangered Greater Glider and the local birdlife. Full information is provided to help you learn it
• A police check and references before you start
