Animal husbandry technician, Winslow VIC

Global Skilled Employment Services is recruiting an Animal Husbandry Technician for a dairy farm in Winslow, VIC. This is a full-time permanent position.

Main duties:

• Artificially inseminate livestock for breeding
• Vaccinate animals and monitor their health and welfare
• Inspect animals for signs of disease, parasites or infection and treat as needed
• Maintain breeding records
• Clean and maintain equipment and farm facilities
• Handle animals humanely and follow animal welfare codes
• Work safely with hazardous materials like liquid nitrogen
• Report to the operations manager on breeding activity
• Work as part of a team and attend meetings as required

Requirements:

• Diploma in Agriculture or higher qualification
• At least 3 years recent relevant work experience
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal
• Advanced knowledge of animal husbandry, animal welfare, dairy production and OH&S
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Computer skills are an advantage
