The Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) has a spot for a Fruit Fly Monitoring Plant Health Inspector in its Biosecurity Division, working across metro Adelaide.
You’ll help protect South Australia’s horticultural industries by monitoring and helping eradicate pests like fruit fly. That work keeps SA’s market access open and supports its Area Freedom claims.
This is field-based work. You’ll maintain the state’s network of fruit fly traps to PIRSA’s procedures, record results accurately, and help eradicate outbreaks alongside experienced plant health teams. It suits someone who likes hands-on work, takes pride in routine, and gets satisfaction from early detection.

– Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
– 2-year opportunity
– Based at Glenside, SA
– OPS2: $64,194 to $67,154 per year, plus super
**What you’ll need**
– A current driver’s licence and willingness to drive
– A National Police Check (completed before any offer)
– Out-of-hours work and inter/intrastate travel may come up
– An understanding of your work health and safety obligations
