Parts Manager for 50,000 ha Family-Owned Mixed Farming Operation

Our client is a well-established family-owned farming business operating a substantial 50,000 hectare cropping and livestock enterprise in the beautiful Esperance region of Western Australia. They pride themselves on running a modern, well-maintained operation with a strong focus on efficiency and reliability.
They now seek an experienced Parts Manager to join the team. This role is ideally suited to a mature, practical individual (aged 40+) who has a strong mechanical background and is looking for a stable, long-term position with a good work-life balance in a mostly office/store-based environment.
About the Role
You will have full responsibility for the spare parts department supporting a large fleet of modern agricultural machinery, trucks, and vehicles. You will work closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure the right parts are available at the right time, minimising costly machinery downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily liaison with the Workshop Manager to plan and prepare for scheduled maintenance and repairs
Identifying, sourcing, and ordering spare parts (mechanical, diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and consumables)
Managing stock levels, inventory control, re-ordering, and cost management
Receiving, checking, and correctly storing incoming parts
Maintaining accurate records in our farm management / parts software system
Processing warranty claims, returns, and managing obsolete stock
Assisting the workshop team with parts fitting and minor repairs when required
Building and maintaining excellent relationships with machinery dealers and parts suppliers
Keeping the parts store clean, organised, and safe
The role is primarily based in the office and parts store, with occasional hands-on work in the workshop during busy periods.
About You
Strong mechanical background – previous experience as a Motor Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Diesel Fitter, Agricultural Fitter, or similar is essential
Proven experience in spare parts ordering, inventory management, and stock control (agricultural, mining, or heavy equipment industry preferred)
Sound knowledge of agricultural machinery parts (tractors, headers, sprayers, air seeders, trucks, etc.)
Mature, reliable, and well-organised with strong attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
Proactive problem-solver who takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly
Current Australian driver’s licence (HR licence highly regarded)
Forklift licence and basic computer skills required
Chemcert accreditation would be an advantage
This position would suit a couple – on-farm accommodation (a house) is available, and there may be opportunities for the partner to work on the farm in administration, livestock, or general duties (to be discussed during interview).What We Offer
